DJI Mavic Pro 2 Rumors & Release Date

The DJI Mavic Pro 2 is a yet-to-be released drone that has a ton of hype around it. The Mavic Pro 2 would be the first official 2nd generation Mavic series drone, a follow-up to the extremely popular DJI Mavic Pro. Currently the release date is not yet known. But stay tuned! We will update this page the moment we know!

Currently, the grand majority of the specs and rumors surrounding this drone come from OsitaLV, who claims the information about the aircraft stems from beta-testers of the foldable drone.

Here's the current slate of rumors about this new aircraft:

Obstacle Avoidance in 6 Directions

A camera with 24mm field of view in the 35mm format

A variable aperture of f/2.8-11*

12MP Sony IMX226 CMOS 1/1.7" sensor that provides 10-bit, 4K videos recording at a maximum 60fps

Variable Aperture

The variable aperture could be very significant, a real improvement for video shooters over the original Mavic Pro, which uses a fixed f/2.2 aperture. Currently the Mavic Pro can only change the shutter speed and ISO to compensate for various lighting conditions, whereas this variable aperture means you can keep your shutter speed fixed to produce more cinematic looking footage. That way, you would only have to change aperture/ISO to compensate for changes in light.

Obstacle Avoidance

Current Mavic Pro owners know that their drone only offers obstacle avoidance in two directions: forward and downward. 6 directions of obstacle avoidance would be a huge step forward, a massive change from the drone models that came before the Mavic Pro 2.

Appearance

One of the most interesting aspects of this new drone is in regards to its size and appearance -- the drone design appears to emulate the current Mavic Pro. If this turns out to be an accurate depiction of the drone, it would be surprising given the vulnerable camera/gimbal setup.
